Sound Transmission and Noise Insulation

The most common problem encountered is sound transmission between dwellings either in new build or in the conversion of larger houses or other premises  to dwellings.   Although  new build standards are usually covered by Building Regulations Approved Document “E”, there are many cases where the approved constructions or “deemed to satisfy” constructions  are not satisfactory. 

Alternatively  there may change of occupancy  of a building to house another activity that may  give rise to sound transmission problems.

Undertake airborne or impact sound transmission tests to BS 2750  and assessments to BS 5821. 

Measure sound and vibration levels where appropriate

Advise on remedial measures to minimise the sound transmission
